The Science of Stress and Self-regulation

Student path to resilience with the science of stress

Overview

What is stress? Why do we experience it? What can we do about it?  How does the science of stress and self-regulation help teachers and learners become more resilient?

Almost everyone experiences stress symptoms, such as an increased heart rate, dry mouth, or sweating excessively. However, few of us relate these physiological signs to a complex system of bodily response to perceived threats, especially in an era where these threats are becoming increasingly complex and surreptitious.

In this course you’ll navigate through some conceptual insights, digital material, and concrete common stress management techniques, as tools to increase students’ resilience to stress.
